Hi, I'm Matt W Ruff,
retired but not dead

Born and raised in Texas, I made the move to Memphis in 1992, then settled in Nashville in 1996 and never looked back. I'm a technologist, creator, and proud grandfather of nine. My career started in the printing industry — a craft I believed in — but I read the writing on the wall early and made a deliberate pivot before the field faded.

That pivot led me to serve as Technical Director at a local church, a role I expected to last a couple of years. Seven years later, I finally handed off the reins. From there I spent several more years as a Tech Consultant to some of Nashville's VIP community before calling it a career at the end of 2019.

Retirement, it turns out, doesn't suit people who can't sit still. I run a tech YouTube channel, host a Video/Audio Podcast, and dabble in photography whenever the light is right. I'm also keeping a close eye on Tennessee politics — if things don't improve, you may see my name on a 2028 ballot.

At the center of it all is my faith, a 41-year marriage, and nine grandchildren who are the reason I care so much about the world we're leaving behind. My political concerns aren't abstract — they're personal. The Tennessee I want to live in is the one my grandkids deserve to inherit.
